Thématique de recherche

L’INRA, et en particulier l’unité Ephyse, contribue à l’émergence de questions liées à l’écologie, au développement durable, à la gestion des paysages, l'évolution des écosystèmes naturels complexes (forêts, paysages, zones mixtes) de façon à répondre à diverses questions liées à la production et à l’environnement. C’est à l’INRA que sont étudiés :
a) les écosystèmes et leurs évolutions sous-tendues par les questions du réchauffement global et de l’augmentation de la fréquence d’accidents climatiques ;
b) et les modifications des pratiques agricoles et sylvicoles liées aux évolutions de la politique communautaire et internationale (PAC, droits à polluer, biocarburants, qualité, durabilité...) et aux équilibres démographiques et économiques.

Ces questions ne pouvant pas être envisagées sans outils de spatialisation, la télédétection a un rôle crucial à y jouer. Dans ce cadre, j’ai développé un travail sur des applications de la télédétection radar des couverts forestiers en essayant de valoriser au mieux les connaissances sur les écosystèmes qui sont présents à l’INRA et qui apportent à ce domaine de recherche une spécificité particulière.

J’aborde donc les domaines de la physique du signal (interprétation, modélisation, traitement d’image) avec une attention particulière à la façon dont la réalité est décrite puis prise en compte dans les modèles théoriques. Un travail sur la structure des arbres m’a ainsi portée à reconsidérer la façon dont la physique manipule des informations de terrain. De même, des collaborations avec d’autres laboratoires ont abouti à des résultats en télédétection radar très originaux et prometteurs par exemple sur la texture de l’image.

Curriculum Scientifique

• Télédétection optique à haute résolution spectrale de couverts de blé. Etude de la modification temporelle de la réponse spectrale de plantes saines et malades. (DEA- 1985)
• Télédétection radar et optique de couverts bas. Mesures, traitement de données, mise au point de modèles semi-empiriques radar et optique, comparaison et synergie entre signaux (thèse – 1991).
• Constante diélectrique des plantes et du sol. Synthèse des facteurs influents sur les propriétés électriques des matériaux, modélisation ; préparation de mesures en laboratoire (1990- CCR-CEE, Ispra Italie).
• Analyse d’images polarimétriques de la forêt et modélisation analytique. Analyse des facteurs relief et de l'âge des arbres sur le signal. Modélisation analytique incluant la topographie (1991, CCR-CEE, Ispra Italie).
• Travail sur la modélisation du signal radar. Modélisation analytique, empirique et semi-empirique : application à la rétrodiffusion radar du sol nu. (1992, INRA).
• Variables nécessaires à la compréhension du fonctionnement du couvert : Analyse d’un modèle de croissance, détection sur des images radar aéroportées des variations de biomasse forestière : croissance, éclaircies, modifications de structure du peuplement.
• Caractérisation de la structure des arbres et modélisation. Mesures de structure, analyse des résultats, calcul des variables utilisées pour calibrer un modèle analytique radar.
• Analyse de la texture d’image. Mesure de la texture par différents indices et méthodes, relation avec les variables forestières, la structure de l’arbre et son évolution dans le temps.
