European Research Council grants are recognised flagships of Horizon 2020, the European Union's Research Framework Programme for 2014 to 2020.

ERC grants are designed to encourage the highest quality of research in Europe through competitive funding and to support investigator-driven frontier research across all fields, on the basis of scientific excellence.

In this context the Université de Bordeaux and Inra have joined forces with the European Research Council Executive Agency to host a special event in Talence open to all researchers and adminstrators across research disciplines and academic establishments to learn more about the different types of ERC calls and how to set about constructing an ERC proposal. At this event you will have the opportunity to hear more about each stage of the proposal selection process from ERC Panel Members and listen to the experiences of ERC grantees preparing their proposals and managing their ERC projects. This meeting will also provide an opportunity for participants to share experiences and questions around the subject of proposal writing and project management in the style of an ERC "speed-dating" and networking event.

So if you are interested in participating in this event, be sure to register soon!

From the deep past to the Anthropocene: coupling Earth system function to climatic change - Celebrating frontier research and promoting equality

In addition, we also invite you to participate in the Symposium (8-9th March). The objective of this symposium is to bring together a range of interdisciplinary, Earth system researchers based in Europe advancing frontier research within their discipline to present the state-of-the-art in our understanding of how climate change has affected the function of the atmosphere, biosphere and hydrosphere in the past and how it is being forecast to function in the ‘Anthropocene’. In addition to showcasing the exceptional advances underway across laboratories in Europe the symposium will also provide an opportunity to foster discussion around the subject of gender balance in science in general and in Earth System sciences in particular.
